She knew this dog needed help, and she needed it now, so she wasted no time and gave the local shelter a call. But the dog wasn't alone. She had recently become a mommy. She had struggled trying to get someone to take the mom in. But finally, all the paperwork was done, and the momma dog was set to go to a new home. But when she went to pick her up, she wasn't moving. The momma wasn't planning on leaving her baby all alone. She wanted to make her feel safe, but what could she do?

Real Estate agent, Dava Hammock from Fort Worth Texas, is a major dog lover. On more than one occasion, she'd opened the doors of her home to countless dogs in need, but she wasn't about to stop now! Her heart was wide open and her home was set up to welcome one more helpless pup.

Dava grew up surrounded by animals, and she loved every minute of it. Being raised next to these loyal creatures really changes your life. Now Ava had everything she could've wanted, (and more!) She had a lovely home, children, and a few dogs. But life was about to flip the script and completely change her world.

Well according to a few studies on how the impact of animal companionship affects child development, growing up with pets can boost a person's self-esteem, social skills, teaches kids empathy, and improves cognitive development.

Generally speaking, kids are better off when there's a pet in the household. Some studies have found that kids living with pets are more physically active, less moody, and have fewer learning problems than those who don't own one. Unsurprisingly, Dava wanted her children to have a beautiful childhood surrounded by loving pets.
